Joining forces

So a while ago I was all “dolls dolls dolls!”

I have a huge love for dolls they are the owners personality in a beautifully constructed miniature and I think they are just beautiful.

unfortunately my imagination just could get enough speed to finish them or make their stories.

but now I gave joined forces with an illustrator!!

he can actually take my dolls and make their back story come alive.

not only that but he has some great ideas for characters which I can bring off the page and give personalities!!

the possibilities are endless!! And the friends we can make are just right.

Etsy confidence

Etsy is a scary wonderful place full of people with really expensive cameras who know what they are doing.

I want to be one of them but I don’t have a camera and I don’t know what Im doing.

I know how to make a coffee or sew the hem on some trousers.

but I want to know more than that I want to sell my things but I never think they are good enough.

so this isent a post its more like a cry for help!!

Turn your hobby into a business review

I don’t often do reviews of books although I feel I might start as I have a fair amount of craft books and a very stong opinion on what makes it a good one.

on visiting my local book shop I found this little gem, country living magazine have brought out this editorial and it is a treat for anyone wanting to day dream about a different type of life.

any homely, country loving, nostalgic business you could think off from a sweet shop to a dogs hotel is here with great advice for starting a progressing said business.

at £7.99 I also feel like I’ve fleeced them and feel like going back and shaking the owners hand for selling it to me in the first place.

to all my lovely readers out there if you have ever taken a weekend away and stopped outside a cozy tea room, found a home made jar of honey or just marvelled at the beautiful british countryside and wondered “could I?” this book makes it all seem possible.

5 things I’ve thought

So here we go again, its been a few weeks but I’ve been thinking lots and thankfully designing!!! Which felt very good

So….

5. My business, its even closer than its ever been, and with good news that’s due to come Friday (sorry but that’s all im alowed to say) my little dream may become a big dream.

And its been a long time coming almost worried it won’t happen.

Elsie’s is the name I think although that may change.

And Cardiff is the goal. Can’t wait!!

4. Christmas!!!!

I’m so excited my presents are almost done, my wrapping is taking some serious thought and my tree is being nagged for, he he he he.

3. Last week I started sewing again, its a really nice feeling, sitting at a table like uni and working at something. I need to think out some more patterns and characters coz once im done with Brenda bunnie I want to make more!!!

2. Hankies, I found a load of beautiful hand sewn hankies in a charity shop by my house 2 days ago and the stitch pattern is extremely kitsch but I have big plans for them!!!

1. Don’t we all want a collection? I used to collect stamps and still have a soft spot for them, but now I want to collect something I enjoy.

I had a think about the traditional choices and found them all a tad expensive and a bit boring.

Then I read about the button tin a beautiful little store/cafe on a pier and its owner who collects ( you’ve guessed it) BUTTONS!!!!

Its such a simple idea and so obvious, and the best part i already have an amazing amount!!!

So im collecting buttons and possibly hankies it only seems right, stay tuned to see what I do with them!!!
